Tried the original banana pies from both store. Dona Manis has a puff pastry like crust and the banana filling has a really appealing bright yellow but I’m not a fan of this almond paste(?) taste in the filling.

The chocolate banana pie unfortunately covered the banana flavour but it has a nice cookie crust if I remember correctly.

Their apple crumble was super good, and this is coming from someone who usually doesn’t eat apple crumble. Love that there was so much crumble and the apple filling wasn’t mushy like other places!

Decided to try this banana pie, which is an interesting bake! This one was really good! The bananas used were super ripe and sweet, with nice buttery pie crust, and coconut flakes inside too. I quite enjoyed this. Price is higher than the neighbouring shop but I found the portion to be bigger per slice. Will revisit if I’m nearby!

Oct 24, brought 3 slices of banana pie. Very good. Also brought one slice from the neighbour but it was slightly salty type. Prefer this pie from Dona Manis. Usually sold fast.
I try the 2 more slices we brought back for afternoon tea, it was prefect.

Went around 11.30am no queue. Ordered the banana pie and chocolate tart. Flavourful banana pie. Both Dona and Aunt Peng banana pie is equally good. Depends on individual liking.

Hidden gem in the Katong area.
Love their banana pie. Definitely one of the best in town and worth buying.
Amazing crust and the banana filling that is well balanced in taste and texture.
The little chocolate tart is a surprise too. Rich and nice chocolate, great texture with the pastry!
The ondeh-ondeh is good but not the greatest I’ve tasted.
Will return for more, for sure. Highly recommended.

The hype surrounding the banana pie feud has somewhat subsided, but both shops continue to attract curious customers.

Despite the identical size of the slices, flavour profile is notably different. Dona Manis' banana pie leans towards a milder taste. This may appeal to those who prefer a more subtle flavour.

Taste is subjective and I personally found the other shop's banana pie more appealing. Considering the slightly higher price of $3.50 per slice here, I'm more likely to choose the other shop based on my preference and value for money.

I also bought a slice of chocolate banana pie $4 which didn't taste as chocolatey as I expected.

Banana pie was rich and filling with a crumbly crust (did feel that it could have been harder for an added crunch). The banana is good quality and you will enjoy having this old school treat. Three slices for $10.

Bought a few pastry here. The banana pie is good. But not my kind of pie. Cos the banana only have sweetness and the coconut overpower the pie.

For the others handmade pastry (in my picture) we have a bit each and threw it away, kinda disappointed, not our liking, the kueh is hard and bland. Not recommend for the kueh.

Service inpatient, but yeah. Won't be back for sure
